If you’re new to the Mi Chaii franchise, you might be amazed to learn that their franchisees are currently looking at 27 different sites for new cafes in the UK over the next few months. This is definitely proving to be one the fastest growing new franchises I’ve ever worked with!

So, what makes a good location?

Well, ideally we are looking at premises of at least 1000 square feet to make the most of all the design facets and potential customer base. Of course, high footfall locations such as high streets and shopping centres are perfect, not just in terms of access for the local community, but also because they are where the unique visual design of the cafes will have the most impact.

However, it’s not just about where they are, but how they use that location. Mi Chaii outlets stand out because every single aspect of them – from their food and drink through to their décor and ambiance – is designed not to be just another café, but rather a social hub.

They are not just a stop off for people on their way to work or the shops, but somewhere people go out of their way to visit.

They are a destination in themselves.

Huge customer appeal

Mi Chaii cafes get a lot of visitors. Takeaway is always big business, of course, but actually only around 20% of their customers use the service. The vast majority are there for the full experience, and if you visit any Mi Chaii you’ll see happy faces there at all times of day.

So, what do these customers look like? It’s an impressively broad demographic:

9am to 12pm – usually mums coming off the school run and meeting up with friends
12pm to 2pm – the lunch rush! Usually people working in the nearby shops and offices
2pm to 5pm – a lot of business meetings, all washed down with snack and chai, of course
5pm to 9pm – sit down evening meals for families, friends or people popping in after work
7pm to Midnight – groups of friends socialising or visiting on their way home from a night out

That last one is really significant. Mi Chaii serves chai and dessert all through the evening, and you’ll often see people making a beeline for their cafes even after eating a main meal elsewhere. If you’ve been out early evening with friends and want to move on somewhere relaxed instead of having to go to a noisy and expensive bar, you’ll notice there isn’t all that much choice in most towns and cities.

Mi Chaii is enjoying a great deal of success by tapping into this gap in the market.

Mi Chaii is not just a café, not just a restaurant, and not just a takeaway – it’s all of that, and more!

What else sets them apart?

  • A stunning and eye-catching design which makes every café stand out for all the right reasons
  • Their menu is constantly evolving to meet customer needs, and they just launched several new vegetarian options
  • Its creators are experts in the industry and know exactly how to deliver with a high-end F&B brand
  • Total integration of supply with all food made in their own preparation centre

Again, that last one is a huge deal. Most cafes and restaurants cook entirely on site after buying in the raw supplies, often from several different sources with all the unreliability and logistical issues that come with disconnected and separate supply chains. Sometimes the quality varies hugely, and stock shortages are all too common.

With Mi Chaii, you don’t have to worry about any of that. And there’s no need for pricey kitchens or expensive chefs, either! Just great food, chai, and an atmosphere that will keep your customers always coming back for more.
